UNBELIEVABLE FLORAL HOUSE

UNBELIEVABLE FLORAL HOUSE   For years Billee and I have passed this house and marveled at the floral display at 3725 No.  Vassault St. in Tacoma . Last year there was no display and we had wondered if the Asian man who owns this house was ill. This year the display was back in force and we stopped this past Sunday to photograph it. Billee went up to the owner and told him how much we had enjoyed his garden all these years and he invited us to tour his creation. We found the backyard to be as beautiful as the front. He is Vietnamese, shy, very soft spoken, and speaks very little (yet very fluent ) English, so we couldn't discuss too much with him about the garden. I hope you all enjoy this as much as we did. Scroll down for pictures and more of the story:  View from the street, which always catches our attention. As you can see a lot of the flowers are in pots. I guess this is so they can be changed easily, and they seem to change quite regularly. The front of the house is not neglected,either. I wonder if he takes the pots in at night to keep them from being stolen. He said he was not worried about anyone stealing anything. At times he notices one planter missing but usually it is replaced with 5 to 10 empty planters  the person leaves behind. Here is the master gardener! I wish we could have communicated better, but he did speak poor but fluent english.   We asked his age and he said he was 91 years young .... we were guessing 60.  I guess if you are doing what you love to do you just don't age as much. I will print out some of these photos and give them to him. A Buddhist shrine. No words needed. Look at how precise the hanging pots are lined up.  Entrance to the backyard. And here is the backyard. WOW More of the back. More hanging baskets. And more baskets. Here is a real beauty. Billee's hand shows the size. It is hard to believe this is one man's w or k and I believe he must w or k on it every day, all day long. What an accomplishment,  and joy for his neighbors.  I asked him  how he made a living.  He said he owned a huge hot house with 23 employees and they made him close to three quarter of a million dollars per year.  He then added he had another 500,000 workers that made him close to 20 cents per worker per year.  We asked how was this possible and the Vietamese man said "Honey Bees" Profits of  $750,000 from human employees and $100,000 from honey gives this person close to $850,000 profit each year.  No wonder he doesn't have to w or k at anything else.   He told me and my husband that he is living the American Dream  No work and all play with BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS.
