REJOINDER to Rajdeep Sardesai's article "As I see it"

Rajdeep in the above article writes that CONGRESS has moved faraway from the fundamental 'Secularism' of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Given below are some of Jawaharlal Nehru's kind of Secularism.
  • Modified Hindu's Personal Laws by passing the Hindu Code Bill in parliament in the year 1954, much against Hindu stalwarts opposition to it.(as if Hindus alone required reforms)
  •  Brought legislation to Hindu temples and Mutts. This enabled the  of his government to take control of major Hindu temples in the Country. Hindu Mutts had to surrender their lands to the government.
  • He opposed the renovation of "SOMNATH TEMPLE" in Gujarat, even-though money spent on it was contributed by the public and not the money of his government. Finally when Babu Rajendra Prasad went for its inauguration, this was vehemently opposed by Nehru. But Babu Rajendra Prasad informed Nehru that he was not inaugurating the renovated temple as the President of India, but in his personal capacity, much to the chargin of Nehru.
  • Nehru during his tenure compelled owners of steamers to divert them to Saudi Arabia in order to enable Haj Pilgrims to travel to Mecca!
  • Nehru used to attack religious views of Hindus on "SOLAR ECLIPSE" and other religious practices of theirs. But never ever criticized/expressed his views on other religious communities practices.
  • Obviously Jawaharlal Nehru never believed "EQUALITY TO ALL,APPEASEMENT OF NONE!"
