Imagine Running Through The Woods When All Of A
Sudden… WHOA! What’s This?
The Socrates Sculpture Park in New York hosts many wonderful works of art, but one of the most impressive pieces you won’t be able to see at first glance. That’s because it was built to be invisible.
A New York design company named STPMJ created the aptly named Invisible Barn for the garden. The project is a “visual illusion that blurs the perceptual boundary between the folly and the site, allows the folly to be disappeared and invisible in nature, reconstructing the landscape of the site.”
It’s made of wood and covered in mirror film, which makes the barn become one with nature, reflecting the surrounding trees.

From a distance, the building is nearly invisible. But as you get closer, you can make out the shape of the barn and the different cut-outs in the wood.

What makes this piece SO beautiful is the fact that it reflects the trees, the season and the beauty of nature.

And nothing can top nature’s majesty.

Even though nothing about the Invisible Barn is natural, it blends into its surrounding so perfectly. Share its incredible beauty with others.
