Why Modi deserves to win...
Let's now turn our attention AAP; Why should we not give it a chance this election?
Even though AAP is still in its honeymoon period, it has shown tendencies of divorce.
Soon, its members have to take positions on all important issues. Governing India is
much more than Jan Lokpal, Free water and subsidized electricity. These alone will not
solve India's problems.
Issues like a comprehensive Economic Policy, Growth Vs Doles, how to promote
Industries, public sector vs private sector, FDI, Reservation for OBCs and Minorities,
whether to split larger states into smaller ones, whether to link rivers across India, how to
deal with Naxalites, Nuclear Policies,Foreign policy with respect to Pakistan, China,
Sri Lanka, etc. are just a small sample of the major issues.
Even if they say they will come up with consensus on all these policies, their policies
will be untested and risky. They may have consciously avoided discussing these
issues in public, precisely because it is difficult to arrive at a consensus on them.
Add to it issues like Arvind Kejriwal's meeting controversial Muslim clerics Maulana
Tauqeer Raza Khan in Bareilly to gain Muslim votes, statements about media persons
to be put behind bars,... we're yet to see AAP being put to tests of realpolitik.
The frightening thought of differences among its top brass coming to the front before
the Lok Sabha Elections was one of the many reasons Arvind Kejriwal resigned as CM
of Delhi.
There are many unexplained acts of omission and commission of AAP within the few
days they were in power, like the following:
Arvind Kejriwal took snap polls to decide if he should become the CM despite his swearing
on his children that he won't, but he didn't take snap polls before resigning.
Arvind asked specifically for 2 specific huge 5-bed houses over 9,000 sq ft of area,
but presenting it as if the Government gave these on its own. When a TV channel
produced evidence of this, he stopped appearing in their shows.
Arvind sat on dharna for a bigger cause of making Delhi police report to the State Govt,
but withdrew it once 2 policemen were asked to go on leave for a few days, and yet claimed
victory.
Arvind was caught on camera 'off the record' telling his interviewer why he should not
be seen as being anti-Industry as he would lose the vote bank of the employees of
industries. So, isn't he playing vote bank politics?
He had said he would allot AAP's tickets to stand in elections based on public
perception in the respective constituencies. But he did no such thing in the Lok Sabha
elections, esp with respect to celebrities.
So, Arvind has been saying and doing things to suit his convenience and his electoral
politics, rather than presenting things factually, and yet he projects himself as an honest
politician.
The fact that Anna Hazare and Kiran Bedi, who were close to him, do not consider him
honest, speaks volumes about this man.
He says Modi is looking for safe constituencies, when the fact is Modi has been
converting so many lost constituencies, across India into successful ones, which is
evident from the opinion polls.
Why should Modi not choose a constituency where he has created a good chance to win?
Which PM-prospect in India with such a good prospect having chosen a risky constituency?
Is this not a rank dishonest comment? Is everything wrong with Modi? Nothing right with him?
And Arvind says he will decide if he will stand against Modi in Varanasi depending on
whether the people there want him to do so. What if his Varanasi rally is thinly attended?
When Arvind, who is a novice, who has nothing to lose, wants to assess if he has
a reasonable chance before deciding whether to stand from Varanasi, what is wrong if Modi
chooses a safe constituency?
Somnath Bharathi landed himself in many controversies, like his previous background
as a fruadster-spamster, about which Arvind, Somnath and AAP have all been avoiding
answers.
Not only do all these show AAP in poor light, they also present Arvind as a lier, who
would twist facts to suit his convenience. How can we trust such a person, esp someone
who has been projecting himself as the paragon of all virtues, as our PM?
Arvind makes corruption charges against leaders of other parties without giving evidence.
This he does in the hope that, since people believe politicians are all corrupt, this should be
true too. This is a dangerous game, and he would fall in this trap soon, too.
Surely, there are divergent views among its members, who come from extremely
varied backgrounds; we've already had a taste of these differences, like Prashant
Bushan's statement that Kashmir should be allowed to seccede from India if it wants to,
and Arvind Kejriwal's own support for Naxalite movement.
These differences and potential controversies will come to the fore ONLY when they are
forced to take policy decisions. And then many supporters will start withdrawing from AAP
because the will start seeing the incompatibilities only then.
AAP says they won't tie up with any party. How can we afford the luxury of electing
members of such a party to Lok Sabha at this stage, when there is already a high level of
fragmentation of votes among the existing parties?
Even assuming Arvind Kejriwal is absolutely clean and honest, which claim he is yet to prove,
is he saying that all AAP members are such a class apart from the members of the other
political parties that they will practice absolutely honest politics? Don't forget that they all
just joined his party recently, and have shown no proof of track record, not even the members
he's projecting as AAP's candidates for the Lok Sabha.
Also, is politics only about being clean oneself? Will an incompetent but clean person do?
Even 'supposed to be competent and clean' persons like Dr. Manmohan Singh have been
found inadequate.
How important are coming up with great nation-building ideas including creating infrastructure
like roads, railways, airports, generating power from renewable and nonrenewable sources
of energy, creating irrigation facilities, professional colleges, developing mines, importing
essentials like crude oil cost effectively, handling internal and external threats, etc.? Can a
mere administrator without a vision deliver on these?
What expertise and experience does he have in his team to demonstrate that they
can deliver on these fronts?
After giving away free water for part of the population and cutting electricity tariffs to
some segments, he has declared that he has delivered more in 48 days than what all
other CMS have done in all these 66 years after Independence. Either he has no clue
what he is talking about, or he lies through his teeth.
With so little experience in power, if AAP has gathered so many skeletons in its cupboard,
imagine what AAP is likely to be 5 years and 25 years down the line. Chances are they
may have faded away. Like a meteor. Meteros shoot into the skies fast, but also
vanish fast.
We wish to believe Arvind and AAP are not as bad as they appear, though they are
nowhere close to being as good as they portray themselves to be either. If they replace
Congress and the Left, which is what they appear close to be, India may have an alternative
for the long future. But surely not today, when we have Modi as a promising alternative.
Can we entrust the Nation (or even a State) in the hands of such a person, today?
Arvind Kejriwal projects elected political leaders like Modi taking decisions on their own
as wrong, and he propagates taking decisions through referendums and mahila panchayats.
In most cases, people are not well-informed; it is for political parties to provide leadership.
If we go by referendums everytime a decision has to be taken, we don't need a PM or CM;
we just need "Super-Computers".
All things considered, on balance, ModiForPM.com believes, "AAP is an apprentice right now,
and we should not promote it as the PM or CM. If we do, we are most likely to lose a good
Apprentice and get a bad leader. If AAP gets elected to Delhi (which it looks set to do) and
gives good governance in Delhi in the next 5 years, it could emerge as a genuine alternative
to Congress and BJP at the national level.
But, in the 2014 General Elections, we, as responsible citizens, should not let AAP or its
avaricious leaderssplit pro-Governance votes of Modi and deliver political power in the
hands of the corrupt and inefficient UPA or a directionless Third or Fourth Front and their
selfish leaders. India needs a strong and powerful leadership.
If Modi becomes the PM and fails to deliver in the next 5 years, and if AAP delivers in Delhi,
AAP could be ready to throw its hat in the ring as the alternative, and its claim will be credible."

as best as we can, through future Newsletters.
Coming Parliamentary election is one of the best opportunities we have to arrest the
slide of our great nation from sinking to greater depths. We should not miss this.
Nor should we make a wrong decision.
Please feel free to forward our emails to your friends and relatives, and
encourage them to subscribe to it too. This will be a great service you will be
doing to your Mother India.
Lastly, please do make it a point to go and vote for BJP and NDA associates who
will make Modi the PM and retain him in that place for 5 years. And ignore AAP who
are shooting from the hip. May be they will become more mature over time.In such
a case, we could always consider them during the 2019 Elections, or even for the
State Elections in between.
